When Love Isn’t Enough

Question from an Anonymous Viewer

“How do you know when it’s time to walk away from someone you still love?”

That’s a hard one, because loving someone and being good for each other aren’t always the same thing.

Sometimes we hold on because we remember how good things used to be. We remember the laughter, the good days, the plans we made … and we hope that version of the relationship will come back.

But love shouldn’t require you to continually abandon yourself just to keep someone else in your life.

If you’ve tried to communicate, tried to understand, tried to repair what’s broken and you’re still consistently left feeling small, exhausted, unwanted, or alone … it may be time to consider whether holding on is hurting you more than letting go.

Walking away doesn’t mean you stopped loving someone.

Sometimes it means you finally started loving yourself enough to accept that love alone isn’t always enough.

And remember this:

You don’t have to hate someone to leave them.

You don’t need a dramatic ending.

Sometimes you can simply say, “I care about you, but this isn’t healthy for me anymore.”

Then take the next step.

It won’t necessarily be easy. But difficult doesn’t mean wrong.

And if you’re standing at that crossroads right now, be gentle with yourself.

You are allowed to choose peace.
