Syd is the driving force behind most of the adventures. She has a way of making life feel bigger, more exciting, and full of possibilities. Curious by nature and confident in her abilities, she’s always looking for the next challenge, the next unanswered question, or the next story waiting to be discovered. Syd finds a reason to laugh in almost every situation. She can turn a wrong turn into a detour worth taking and a disaster into a story that will be retold for years. At the same time, she feels things deeply. She’s often the first to laugh at a joke and the first to tear up at a sad story. For all her confidence and boldness, she has a
surprisingly soft heart.
Never one to sit still, Syd is always searching for the next fun thing, the next hidden treasure, or the next impossible idea. She approaches life with an energy that can be both inspiring and exhausting to everyone around her. If there is an adventure nearby, Syd will find it. If there isn’t one, she’ll probably create one.
She loves old legends, secret locations, unsolved mysteries, and anything that makes people say, “There’s no way that’s real.” To Syd, that’s usually where the fun begins.
What makes her special isn’t just her intelligence or resourcefulness … it’s her determination. Once she sets her mind on something, giving up simply isn’t an option. Where other people see obstacles, Syd sees puzzles waiting to be solved. And when someone tells her something can’t be done, she takes it as a personal challenge to prove them wrong. Part of what makes Syd such a natural leader is that her enthusiasm is contagious. People don’t just follow her
because she has a plan, they follow her because she genuinely believes something amazing is waiting around the next corner. Her excitement makes others want to believe it too.
Of course, that stubborn streak has gotten her into trouble more than once. Syd has a habit of jumping first and figuring out the details later, usually with Genny right beside her, though truthfully, Genny rarely needs much convincing. When an adventure is calling, caution tends to get left behind. Syd can become so focused on where she’s going that she forgets to think about what might happen when she gets there. More than a few of her brilliant ideas have turned out to be considerably more complicated than she expected. Fortunately, she has Genny to occasionally remind her to slow down, though not nearly often
enough, and Ollie to help untangle the mess when things go sideways.
But beneath all the excitement and enthusiasm is a deeply loyal heart. Syd cares fiercely about the people she loves and will go to extraordinary lengths to protect them. If a friend is in trouble, she’s already on her way before anyone finishes explaining the situation. She doesn’t keep score, doesn’t expect anything in return, and never abandons the people she cares about. She isn’t motivated by money, fame, or recognition. What she loves is the adventure itself, the thrill of discovery, the memories created along the way, and the feeling that life is meant to be lived, not watched from the sidelines.
Syd would never call herself reckless. She’d simply say that opportunities don’t wait forever. And if a little trouble happens to find her along the way, well … that’s usually where the best stories start.
